How to deploy CMF ads on your blog
by Kunal Jain on Feb.18, 2009, under monetizing

CMF Overview
CMF Ads is a new advertising network that I have just come across. They only started at the end of January and have grown quite well since then. Ive decided to test them out on RecipeMobile first and then use them on my other websites. They are great for smaller blogs as:
- They let publishers keep 100% of your credits
- Instead of cashing in your credits, you can choose to buy more ads. This helps avoid transaction fees and helps market your blog or website without paying money out of your pocket.
- Unlike Entrecard, you can manage multiple websites from a single account and so share all your advertising credits to spend them efficiently.
- If you have more ads playing on your blog than you have advertising space, the ads automatically rotate while still giving you the same number of credits per month. Therefore, even if you have set your ad price at $1/month/ad, your actual earnings will be more if multiple advertisers place their ads on your website. This also avoids advertisers having to wait in line to advertise on your website (unlike Entrecard).
- Also unlike Entrecard, all credits are bought by real money so the economy is stable.
Overall, its an interesting network that has a lot of potential. Â Here are the steps to go about deplyoing it on your blog. (continue reading…)
Force www redirect to improve SEO
by Kunal Jain on Feb.13, 2009, under SEO
I have been progressively taking SEO steps for recipemobile and one of the tools that I have used to point out SEO issues is the website grader service. I have managed to consistently improve the score over the past week. Getting indexed on google really helped my score. Another issue that the service was pointing out was that I do not have a 301 redirect from http://recipemobile.com to http://www.recipemobile.com. Although, there are probably quick ways to fix this using the .htaccess file, I was not comfortable mucking around with this.
Luckily, I found a good plugin that might help me get rid of this error. Â (continue reading…)

RecipeMobile

My wife loves to cook and is indeed a fantastic cook. Her food gets better everyday and she invents amazing recipes all the time. Since a lot of people were asking about her recipes and she would have to email them or tell them over the phone, I decided to start a wordpress blog for her where she can upload these recipes.
RecipeMobile is now about a week old and is fast growing into a complete cooking website. She has a bunch of great recipes there and is planning to start uploading cooking tips and other cooking related content.
I have also put up a form where visitors can submit their own recipes to be published under their name on the website. Lets see how things go.
