Recipe Mobile has a new Facebook fan page

by Kunal Jain on Mar.13, 2009, under blogs, marketing

I have set up a Facebook fan page for Recipe Mobile.  This week, Facebook updated their business pages to make them look more like user’s profile pages.  They now have a ‘wall’, a photos and other media page and a ‘boxes’ page which can hold all kinds of applications.  Also, updates from fan pages will show in fan profile streams.  This increases the potential of exposure significantly.  Building a facebook page for your business or website is also the first step towards advertising on Facebook.

Both Deepa (Recipe Mobile’s author and my wife) and I have a lot of friends that we connect with on Facebook.  Since it is a much closer community, we can use the fan page to get them more involved with the website while still keeping things more personal than we can on the website (which caters to a global community).  This includes posting reviews of local restaurants, talking about local foodie events, parties etc.

We have started taking pictures almost every time Deepa cooks and we will also be posting a lot of these pictures regularly to the fan page.  I have also set up the application Rss-Connect to pull in Recipe Mobile’s feed into the Facebook fan page automatically.  This keeps the Facebook community up to date with the updates on the website and hopefully will end up increasing click through.  I have also put a new button on Recipe Mobile linking to its Facebook page.  We already have 10 fans on the first day (although most of them are our close friends :))

Visit the fan page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/wwwrecipemobilecom/67656529574 and leave us your comments there or under this post.  Also, please contact me if anyone would like help creating a fan page for their own blog.  It only takes a few minutes time to set up and I recommend every blogger do it to increasing community involvement.  Once you have set up your fan page please leave a link in the comments section here so that I and the readers of this blog can visit it.
